Texas Instruments (TI), perhaps best known for their calculators and associated electronic gadgets, has announced they are taking a step in expanding Malaysia-based operations via new factories.
Located in KL and Melaka, the facilities are focusing on assembling and testing products with KL’s side directly expanding from the existing premise since TI acquired the buildings sitting next to it.
For Melaka, they are building them fresh from the ground up which will make up to 6 floors of vertical height.
The expected new job vacancies, or opportunities if you may, will be approximately 1,800 positions from KL’s 1300 and Melaka’s 500.
All of these are done to drive Malaysia’s position in the semiconductor industry to a higher level by investing and solidifying processing capabilities. thus attracting more clients in the long run.
TI themselves also benefit from the cause as they projected a 90% internally controlled assembly and test operations by 2030.
Aside from business-related factors, the brand will continue to strive for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold award which is only given to factories and facilities that have achieved highly efficient and environmental-friendly production.
