Thai Nippon Food has selected Synology as its IT partner to enhance its IT infrastructure’s security and backup solutions.
Like many multinational organizations, Thai Nippon Foods manages its digital data by using in-house private servers for local processing and backups, as well as maintaining cloud copies. The challenge arises from the fact that nearly all data resides on a single server, leaving the company vulnerable to disruptions such as ransomware attacks, as previously experienced.
To address this issue, the management has decided to expand its efforts by deploying additional local file servers to host redundant configurations and backup storage. This strategic move ensures that the production line can continue to function properly in the event of any disruption or, at worst, swiftly return to optimal operation as quickly as possibe.
Synology’s approach to tackling this problem involves deploying two identical 16-bay RackStation units in a Synology High Availability active-passive configuration at the Ayutthaya HQ.
Additionally, they’ve set up two 8-bay RackStation units in the same configuration for the Phitsanulok location, ensuring low-latency local access for files and data between branches with minimal annual downtime. These units include a passive server that activates when necessary.
For backup purposes, a 2x 16-bay rackmount unit was configured in Synology High Availability mode. This configuration includes Active Backup for Business, enabling administrators to centrally configure and monitor all endpoints, providing protection and swift restoration of entire devices or machines from their Synology servers. A passive server is also in place for backup purposes.
With Synology’s offerings adherence to industrial-compliant standards, Thai Nippon Foods is confident in staying ahead of IT security challenges, mitigating the risk of financial loss from malicious attacks.
