It’s pretty fantastic to see WD coming up with some new products. Personally, I’ve  been using lots of WD storage solutions, ranging from their ever-famous internal hard disks for both desktop and laptop, to their fantastic external hard disks, and even their NAS which we reviewed here. Now, WD is bringing in a new series of devices, called the WD Pro series.

The products which are within the WD Pro Series are My Passport Wireless Pro WiFi, and the My Cloud Pro Series of NAS devices. WD claims that these WD Pro Series of devices have seamless transfers between devices, and is Adobe Creative Cloud-connected too!

Personally speaking, I really love the WD Cloud ecosystem. When I was at Taiwan last year, I can access all of my data from accessed anywhere in the world when I use mycloud.com. That’s because all of the data which I want to access is already in my WD NAS itself! Convenient! Even file sharing is the simple!

The WD My Passport Wireless Pro has the most difference compared to its predecessor when it comes to aesthetics. It now has a square-shaped body that reminds me of an external optical drive for some reason. Features-wise, it still sports WiFi Direct connection to transfer files, and  still has that built-in SD card reader too. Also, WD added a USB 2.0 port as a bonus addition to us all.

WD Pro Series

The WD My Passport Wireless Pro is now available up to 3TB in capacity, and it features an extensive 10 hour battery life, and a built-in battery pack. In the simplest explanation, the WD My Passport Wireless Pro can be your power bank too.

The WD My Passport Wireless Pro will be avialable for sale at RM1,099 for 3TB, and even comes with WD’s very own 2-year limited warranty too.

The WD My Cloud Pro series of NAS however looks like its predecessor in terms of aesthetics, but functionally different. The brand new series of NAS can now backup data from cameras/memory cards and their readers, and even other USB storages by a simple one-touch backup button. As for the hardware difference, the new NAS has hardware accelerated video processor, which means it can handle 4K resolution content pretty commendably. Those who are working with high bitrate videos should really take a look at a WD NAS.

Get one for the sake of data redundancy, and also for the peace of mind when it comes to storage management.

The WD My cloud Pro Series NAS is distributed by Eternal Asia (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, and they are offered in these configurations with these prices:
