MP4

MP4 is the most commonly used video format, which works on almost all devices. It has a small file size which makes it easy to upload and share videos online. Most social media platforms and video websites accept MP4 files. 

When it comes to playing MP4 files, a popular choice is the VLC player because it can play almost any video format, including MP4.

MOV

MOV is a format made by Apple. It works well on both Mac and Windows. MOV files are known for high quality. However, their files can be large and may take up more space. This format is mainly used for creating high-quality videos. 

So, if you need to edit videos, MOV is a good choice. But if you want to share videos, you may need to convert them to a smaller format. 

WMV

Another common type of video file format is WMV, made by Microsoft. It works best on Windows devices and has a smaller file size. This format is commonly used for streaming videos online or saving space on your devices. 

AVI

AVI is the format made by Microsoft. One of the best things about AVI is that it gives high-quality video. However, AVI files can be large and are commonly used for storing movies and long videos. 

AVI is a good choice if you want the best video quality. But if you need to save space, AVI might not be a good option for you. 

WebM

WebM is a free-to-use video file format and has a small file size. WebM can load quickly on websites as most web browsers like Chrome and Firefox easily support this format. Moreover, it helps videos load fast without losing quality.

FLV

FLV is a format used with Adobe Flash Player and is good for online streaming. But, as Adobe Flash is less common now, FLV is also not used that much. 

With macOS, integrating tools such as Skype can provide easy collaboration and communication capabilities for live streaming handling.

AVCHD

Last but not least, AVCHD is a format made by Sony and Panasonic. It is used for recording high-quality videos, and it makes videos very clear. The AVCHD files are large, so they are best for professional video projects.
