While WhatsApp has always been the most popular messaging platform around the world due to its flexibility, it rarely undergoes drastic changes unless necessary with the majority of updates solely dedicated to functionality in order to keep things simple.
The December 2022 update seems to slide back on the nerdy properties and instead fashions and personalization hops in for a change of breath.
The latest big update comes in the form of Avatars dedicated to the expression of oneself by allowing users to create and modify a digital character to match their real-life characteristics.
This digital character template will then generate a bunch of sticker packs using your virtual creation which consists of different reaction images.
Although it won’t be as useful for the daily meme enjoyers, at least the casual people can play with the Avatars function for a while.
Released worldwide just a couple of days ago, a whole package of calling-related refinements are directly integrated without much people knowing but here is a quick summary of them
- Up to a maximum of 32 individuals within a single call
- Message or mute call specific individuals during group calls by long-pressing them
- Invite individuals to group calls by sharing a unique URL
- Colorful waveforms surround the speaker to highlight who’s speaking even if the camera is off
- New participants of a call will now show up as a banner during calls
- Support for Picture in Picture on iOS
Both the Avatars and Improved Calling updates are available in the latest version of WhatsApp so be sure to download and refresh the app via App Store or Play Store.
