Xiaomi announced that the Xiaomi 14T Pro and the T-series exclusively use MediaTek’s chipsets. The Xiaomi 14T Pro is equipped with this list of specs:

  • 6.67-inch OLED screen
    • 2712×1220 pixels
    • 144Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 9300+
  • 12GB LPDDR5X RAM
  • Up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage
  • 5,000mAh battery

Initially, I was worried about the chipset. This Dimensity 9300+ chipset is worrying as it does not have any efficiency cores. It’s made out of a total of 4x Cortex-X1 cores and 4x Cortex-A720 CPU cores. All these are performance cores.

Moreover, this chipset is also equipped with the Mali-G720 Immortalis MC12 GPU – another high-powered GPU.

So how does the Xiaomi 14T Pro deal with these components? Does it overheat? Actually, no. Xiaomi upgraded the cooler system to the new Xiaomi 3D IceLoop. It’s huge, covering 5000mm². Basically, nearly the entire back of the phone is covered by this humongous heat spreader.

It also has a 3D concave-convex structure to ensure better heat dissipation.

With all of these promises, what’s the frame rate we can get on the Xiaomi 14T Pro when we play games like Genshin Impact v5.0? It cleared all my doubts and blew me away with its super smooth and high frame rates. Remember, Genshin Impact had a graphical update recently, and that heavily affected the performance of all chipsets.

Here’s a quick summary of the frame rates that we got.

  • Genshin Impact v5.0 at highest graphical preset: 52fps
  • Zenless Zone Zero at highest graphical preset: 59fps
  • PUBG Mobile at Ultra Extreme frame rate: 120fps
  • COD Mobile with Super Resolution; medium graphical preset: 120fps
  • Wuthering Waves at highest graphical settings: 45fps

And yet, the temperature is far from thermal throttling. The phone feels barely warm to the touch and our thermal camera reports about 40°C at the hottest point, where the chipset is located below the screen.

Honestly, it defied all of my expectations and I couldn’t believe what I’m seeing. Even though this article is brought to you by Xiaomi Malaysia, our independent testing shows that this phone is wonderful for high-end games.

Yet the efficiency of this chip is also uncompromised. Using our standardized battery life test, the Xiaomi 14T Pro managed to last 14 hours and 30 minutes. I’m shocked by how good this is.
