I’m lost beyond words on how amazing the Galaxy Note 7 really is. It’s beautiful. Samsung impresses the whole world again with their brand new Galaxy Note 7, bringing in new innovation and improvements over its predecessor.

These are some of the highlights of the entire event:

  1. Brand new IP68 certified, water-resistant S Pen
  2. New Samsung Knox security system that features biometric authentication and iris scanning feature
  3. HDR video streaming capability

There are many things that went through the entire event. Let’s analyze them deeper and see what’s the updates.

Galaxy Note 7 2

S Pen

It has a much more smaller and precise 0.7mm tip, with improved pressure sensitivity. It also has a lot of improved drawing features and Air Command too. You can magnify and translate on the spot, using the S Pen itself.

Iris scanner

This is a feature that everyone foresees it’ll be coming, and it seems like Samsung is the one. The brand new iris scanner is now coupled into the entire Samsung ecosystem. Samsung Knox and Samsung Pay will definitely take advantage of this even more than before. With Samsung Pass at hand – an authentication that bridges iris and fingerprint scanner to apps and services – it should shake Google’s own playground.

Entertainment

Samsung has again integrated a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen into the Galaxy Note 7, but now even features a HDR-streaming experience too. It brings cinema-like with richer coours on the screen itself. You don’t have to do anything at all.

There’s also a Game Pack available through Google Play, that includes all of the top game titles for you to play. That’s because the Galaxy Note 7 uses Vulkan API, which will soon be supported by Unreal Engine and Unity soon.

New experiences

There’s a brand new focus on health, and Samsung can now monitor your fitness through their brand new Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX through Samsung’s new S Health 5.0. Now, S Health even lets you to compete with your friends and family in fitness challenges too!

Other details

The Galaxy Note 7 has a massive 3,500mAh battery, and uses USB Type-C connector. However, there’s an adapter to convert the usual micro USB cable to a Type-C connector, thanks to an accessory that Samsung  has included in all of their Galaxy Note 7.

There’s also an external battery casing that Samsung calls Backpack, which gives you on-the-go charging. Great for Pokemon Go players, actually.

UPDATE: Giving some though about upgrading from a Galaxy Note 5? Look at this chart, courtesy of Samsung. Thanks a lot for providing us with this side-by-side comparison. Do note (pun intended) that there’s no Galaxy Note 6. As pointed out here earlier, Samsung pulled off a Windows 10 by skipping a number in their flagship number sequence. In Samsung’s case, it’s to sync up the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S generation numbers.

UPDATE 2: Samsung has officially stated what you’re getting when you pre-order.

preorder 1

10% off, a (supposedly) fast-charging USB Type-C power bank with 10,200mAh capacity, a free wireless charging stand. The last one however is that you’ll be getting the phone a day earlier. How much that’s worth is definitely up for debate.

Anyway, RM3,199 with 10% discount means you’ll only need to pay RM2,879.10, and you get the power bank and wireless charging stand for free too. Quite a great deal, actually.

Remember – pre-order starts Monday, 8th August 2016 at 10:00am!

UPDATE: This is the brand new news that broke out of Samsung themselves. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will not arrive until September. Yes, that’s right. Samsung just sent out an email to us saying that the Note 7 will be rescheduled to September of 2016 instead of having an August launch. Exact date is still unconfirmed as of now.

However, those who have pre-ordered the Note 7 from anywhere between 8th to 10th August 2016, Samsung claims that they’ll honour their promise and will still bring it to you at the promised date.
