Transcend is well-known for their extremely rugged external hard disks. Personally speaking, I was really impressed by Transcend’s first ever military-grade shock resistant external hard disk. Now, the sequel to that series of hard disk is on the table – and that’s the StoreJet 25H3. Particularly, the TS3TSJ25H3P, the 3TB variant.

Packaging is as expected from Transcend. It’s still having that conventional packaging style albeit having a much better quality than typical cardboards.

That said, there are lots of information of the Transcend StoreJet 25H3 at the back. Take a look at them to really get a hint of what’s up.

Opening the box reveals the typical stuff – the StoreJet 25H3 itself, the USB cable, and lots of documentation. Be careful though, as the everything other than the StoreJet 25H3 will pour our from behind.

[nextpage title=”Design”]Let’s talk about its ruggedness and design first. The Transcend StoreJet 25H3 comes in two colours – one blue, and another purple.

The colour itself is a large piece of shock absorbent actually, as it’s the only that one part of the hard disk that gives off colour other than its grey.

Because of that, the entire StoreJet 25H3 feels gloomy. Other than that one large piece, it’s just grey and black all around.

This time around, Transcend even wrapped the StoreJet 25H3 all around. I think Transcend realizes that their previous design has an unprotected USB port, and now they’re not letting one bit unwrapped by the shock absorbent material.

The One Touch Backup area is the one and only part that is not covered with the shock absorbent material. I don’t expect it to be damaged through this area though.

However, it’s definitely nice to hold, and absolutely fantastic for clumsy people. More applicable to those who doesn’t really care about the well-being of their external hard disk too (me, for instance).

[nextpage title=”Performance & Features”]About the numbers, the StoreJet 25H3 is commendable in its speeds. It’s definitely a fast one too, actually. Much faster than my own WD Passport Wireless.

Features

Speaking of its features, remember that One Touch Backup button? It’s the same as the ESD400’s One Touch Backup. Works the same when paired with the Elite Data Management software by Transcend too.

3 softwares developed by Transcend for their users for free. They are Elite Data Management, RecoverRX, and StoreJet ToolBox. StoreJet ToolBox is the only one exclusive software meant for their StoreJet series of external hard disks.

Without going too deep into it – because there’s not much need for it – the StoreJet ToolBox  is a wiping tool. It wipes data with a method that it isn’t recoverable. If you’re using the StoreJet ToolBox to series format the StoreJet 25H3, then there’s no difference in using Windows’s very own formatting tool either.

The best tools right here is of course the RecoverRX and the Elite Data Management. Syncing your data backups with your external hard disk is important – else why would you even get a 3TB external hard disk?

[nextpage title=”Wrap up”]I highly recommend the StoreJet 25H3 those who need large backups and/or transfer large files often. It’s important for everyone to make backups of their files, and not just when you’re feeling like it.

With the help of Transcend’s Elite Data Management software (again, it’s free), there’s no excuse on not backing up your data consistently. It backs up for you automatically.

The StoreJet 25H3 comes in all sorts of storage options. You can choose 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, or like what I have here, the 3TB version. It comes with different prices all around, and I recommend looking at Lazada to get the best deal for your StoreJet 25H3.
