Aha! The Honor 6X was announced at CES2017, and it’s the company’s latest venture into an even more budget-friendly market segment while retaining the dual camera setup. It seems like Huawei P9 and Honor 8’s dual camera movement have defined the future of smartphones too.
That said, the Honor 6X fits into Honor’s affordable-yet-powerful lineup of smartphones, with some strong specs to back it up.
The Honor 6X is a 5.5-inch smartphone with a 1080p LTPS IPS LCD display – which is similar to what the Honor 7 has. Equipped with Kirin 655 chipset (which uses FinFET, click here to learn more) with 16nm octa-core chipset, and has the option for 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, or 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Not sure why they opted for this configuration, but there you have it.
You can read more about the Honor 6X here, where we covered its initial launch back at CES2017. Anyway, here’s the breakdown.
Honor 6X comes with a main 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor with another 2MP sensor, has PDAF and two of these cameras have to work hand in hand to bring the best picture to life. The main 12MP camera takes the image composition, whereas the 2MP module takes the depth of field information. Then for the selfie camera, Honor included an 8MP camera for it. Pretty standard in today’s standard.
One thing I do appreciate is that the Honor 6X comes with a larger-than-usual 3,340mAh battery.
The Honor 6X comes in three different colors – Grey, Silver, and Gold. Each colour comes in either 3GB RAM + 32GB storage for RM1,199, or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage for RM1,399. That’s a little hefty!
However, the caveat is this: only the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage version of the Honor 6X will only be available for pre-order from 14th to 16th February via the Lazada link here, and the first 50 customers will be entitled to receive an Honor turbine earphone, Honor casing, and Petrol voucher of RM100.
This variant will officially be available in the market for purchase on the 17th of February 2017.
As for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version, it’ll be available nationwide starting from 6th of March 2017 onwards.
