It’s a brand new year – and it’s time to finally announce the Galaxy Note8. Sure, we all know what happened to the Note 7 and we’re deeply saddened by a whole year of hiatus that Samsung’s Note series has taken. However, Samsung is now back again with full force. This is the Samsung Galaxy Note8.
Let’s start with the specs list. Knowing Samsung Malaysia Electronics, they’ll be bringing in only the Exynos version.

- 128GB/256GB storage; expandable up to an additional 256GB with microSD card

- Dual rear-cameras
- 12MP f/1.7 Dual Pixel autofocus with OIS
- 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and autofocus with OIS
- Single selfie camera
- 8MP f/1.7 with autofocus
- 3,300mAh battery
- IP68 rating
Of course, it still has all of the features that I love the most in the Galaxy S8 that we reviewed here. On the Note8 however, you get even more features with the new S Pen and its features. We’ll be exploring it in-depth when we get the Galaxy Note8 on our hands for sure! 😀
Also, Samsung pumped steroid on the camera system. It now has one wide angle lens and another telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. You can learn more about dual-camera smartphones and its differences here. However – one big however this time with the Galaxy Note8 – Samsung seems to have implemented both hybrid and stereoscopic dual-camera systems together. And that’s not all – Samsung implemented OIS on both cameras!
As of now, we still don’t have an official Malaysian launch date or price of the Galaxy Note8 yet. We’ll surely keep you up to date when we have more information.
The Galaxy Note8 comes in Midnight Black, Deep Sea Blue, Orchid Grey, and Maple Gold. It just looks way too classy to be a smartphone, by the way. Knowing Samsung’s cameras, I’m pretty stoked to take some shots with it.
[UPDATE]: Samsung has sent us all the information we need!
First of all, thanks to Samsung Malaysia, we’re getting the Galaxy Note8 a lot earlier than we’re supposed to!
From 5th to 10th September 2017, the all new Galaxy Note8 will be available for pre-orders at Samsung’s website for the price of RM3,999.
But, Samsung Malaysia is giving you back a lot of goodies. 4 of them, actually. Here is the list of what they’re giving you:
- Cash rebate worth RM321
- Free Samsung Protection Plus worth RM298
- Free 5,100mAh power bank worth RM269
- Free clear cover (inside the box)
The most interesting goodie here is the free Samsung Protection Plan. It gives you another whole year of extended warranty that covers both electrical and mechanical breakdowns as well as a 1-year screen crack protection! However, it can only be claimed once.
That 5,100mAh power bank, however, is definitely something nice to have – but not spectacular. Still, it’s a pretty good deal!
