Alright, the deal here is simple. See the new Mi 9T? Yea that phone, it’s only priced at RM1,199. Now that the price has caught your attention, here are 9 irresistible reasons to own the Mi 9T.
Special thanks to Xiaomi Malaysia for bringing in the Mi 9T to the Malaysian market at such a fantastic price. Honestly, we can’t find any other smartphone with such great specs for such a low price.
1. Triple cameras
To have a smartphone with 3 cameras at the rear is quite difficult – especially for this price.
Remember – these 3 cameras are usable. There is no “depth sensor” bullcrap and that’s great. You have these 3 usable cameras on the Mi 9T:
- Main camera: 48MP f/1.8, PDAF
- Ultrawide angle camera: 13MP f/2.4
- Telephoto camera: 8MP f/2.4, 2x optical zoom
With these 3 cameras mean that there is a camera for each occasion. Want a beautiful, high-resolution picture of the scenery to print it and hang somewhere in the office or at home? Then use the 48MP camera. Want to fit everyone in the picture? Ultrawide angle. Something fenced behind the “do not touch” glass window? The 2x optical zoom is here for you.
Xiaomi also got a photographer, Billy Cane, to take some shots around Singapore with the new Mi 9T. The shots turned out to be top-notch, just as expected from Xiaomi’s standard. You can also check out the full album of all the images taken by Billy Cane using the Mi 9T here.
2. Beautiful, notchless display
This is yet another thing many people are glad. Xiaomi’s brand new Mi 9T does not have a notch as it uses a motorized 20MP selfie camera. That selfie camera hides itself inside the phone when it is not needed, hence you don’t have a large notch or any cutouts on the screen. This is 6.39-inches of pure screen only.
Imagine playing PUBG Mobile one a screen without notches. Enemies can’t hide behind the notch (that happened to me once) and my minimap won’t be blocked by a camera cutout.
Since Xiaomi is using a magnificently bright and vivid AMOLED panel here, watching movies on the Mi 9T feels absolutely blissful. No notch with deep blacks, bright and vibrant colors. These are the things that make a TV wonderful – but now it’s in your hands. Moreover, the Mi 9T supports HDR videos as well.
3. Snapdragon 730
Let’s face it. For any sort of gaming, we all want the highest resolution with the most beautiful graphics. With such high demand, we need powerful hardware – and the Mi 9T is able to provide just that. With the new Snapdragon 730 SoC that is fabricated with the 8nm process technology, it packs a whole lot of power.
We played lots of games on it and had a great time. The phone is able to handle all the heavy work we throw at it too – heavy websites on Chrome, editing pictures off of Snapseed, saving edited videos. Everything is done speedily on the Mi 9T.
4. 6GB RAM with speedy storage
I have a habit of using a few apps at the same time. The Mi 9T has a total of 6GB RAM, and that amount is the sweet spot for me. I oftentimes open Chrome, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and also Telegram and WhatsApp at the same time. I still have not mentioned the numerous background apps that I have running at the same time.
To keep all of these apps running in the background, a lot of RAM is needed. 6GB is just nice, with some headroom to spare. I can still run a game and switch between it too if I want to.
5. Speedy storage to boot
Another thing I find funny is that the Mi 9T uses UFS 2.0 storage chips. The chip can reach around 500MB/s in sequential read and about 185MB/s in sequential write speed. That means you can also record 4K videos speedily on the Mi 9T.
Say goodbye to loading screen in games because this UFS 2.0 storage chip also means that your games load faster.
6. Audio jack
I honestly can’t imagine a life without audio jacks. The audio jack is so important for both movies and gaming. Anything wireless will have audio delay – and it is very annoying to see and hear at different times.
The one and only way to prevent audio delay is to use a wired speaker, headphone, or earphone. There is no way around that – and that is the one reason why you need the audio jack.
7. That large 4,000mAh battery
This is pretty self-explanatory. Having a larger battery means you can game for a longer period of time before having to charge. Coupled with the Snapdragon 730, it can last you for a very long time.
If you’re conservative enough, the 4,000mAh can actually last you for two whole days. Also when your battery does run out, then don’t worry. The Mi 9T supports Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 as well, as it can quickly charge up with 18W worth of power.
8. Blingy back
One fact that I like the Mi 9T is its design at the back. Xiaomi dares to try something new and give it a very blingy back. The two sides of the phone have this… design that I don’t know how to describe. It’s unique.
The Mi 9T is available in a total of 3 variants – Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Red Flame. Both the Glacier Blue and Red Flame has this fancy design though the Carbon Black takes on a much subtle design with its carbon fiber texture under the glass back.
Nowadays, there are many transparent protective cases in the market for you to show off that beautifully designed smartphone that you have on your hands.
Now, if you don’t like the design then you can always opt for an opaque protective case for the Mi 9T and cover it up.
9. Obviously the price
Seriously, where else can you get a smartphone with this set of hardware for the price of just RM1,199?
It is available in a total of two configurations too:
- 6GB RAM + 64GB storage @ RM1,199 (on Lazada)
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage @ RM1,399 (exclusively on Mi Stores)
