We have multiple teasers from OPPO about the upcoming OPPO F9, and there are a few notable features that you should know about. Here are the details that are confirmed about the upcoming OPPO F9.
Launch date – 16th August
OPPO Malaysia has already announced the grand launching date and time and how you can watch it online via live stream. It’s happening on the 16th August at 3.50pm.
For O-fans who will be tuning in to the grand launching of the OPPO F9, remember to share the live video and stand a chance to win the brand new OPPO F9 too!
That’s not all – the famous Taiwanese singer Eric Chou representing the “young and daring”, whereas Malaysia’s icon, Neelofa, will be portraying the “high fashion and confidence” lifestyles. Both Eric Chou and Neelofa are confirmed to attend the OPPO F9’s press conference as well.
Other influencers from the past will make a return too – including Min Chen, Hebe Tien, and Zahirah McWilson.
OPPO F9 supports VOOC charging
OPPO was the first one to ever come out with literally high-powered charging for their smartphones and last you a few hours with just a few minutes of charging. The OPPO VOOC Flash Charge will be making a comeback to the F-series after the long hiatus.
OPPO is touting 2 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charge. The OPPO VOOC Flash Charging is using a high-powered 5V 4A charger with a proprietary cable to prevent any bottlenecking.
From our previous test with OPPO smartphones that has VOOC Flash charge, it’s seriously insanely fast yet both the device and the charger are cool to the touch. That’s amazing.
First F-series to have dual rear-facing cameras
In lieu of last year’s hype of dual-camera smartphones, OPPO’s F-series of smartphones were a little late to the party. Now, single rear-facing camera does not automatically mean it’s bad. We discussed about dual rear-facing cameras a lot here. However, since it only has one single camera, the flexibility is limited. No optical zoom or wide-angle shots.
Now, the OPPO F9 is the first ever F-series smartphone to have a dual rear-facing camera configuration. It has a 16MP + 2MP camera setup.
The 16MP camera will be the one taking pictures whereas the 2MP camera will be gathering data like depth. With two separate cameras, the smartphone can have a better perception of depth and thus creating better bokeh pictures.
25MP AI Beauty 2.1 selfies
OPPO has confirmed the 25MP selfie camera that has AI Beauty 2.1 that is enhanced with AI selfie technology. It enables you to preview the beautified photo before taking the shot, and also to change your facial features as you wish. It even has OPPO F9 Sensor HDR that creates vivid photos while controlling the exposure.
3 more design aspects
We got our hands on the first look at the OPPO F9 here. It has a waterdrop screen design which is an interesting twist to the notched displays that we’ve seen this year. It also has diamond underglass pattern that creates beautiful reflections of light.
