2018 is the year of smartphones with notches – and that is something that we cannot deny. We first saw the notch on iPhone X and for some reason, Android smartphone manufacturers worldwide implemented the notched screen in their smartphones. The race for higher screen-to-body ratio will not end so soon – and Honor has already teased the upcoming View20 that has a circular cutout instead of a notch.

The new Honor View20 has a few new things up its sleeves – and from what we can see, it seems to be rather interesting. It will be equipped with the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor – a large one too, at 1/20-inches. Honor also touts something called “4-in-1 Light Fusion” which I think is something similar to ASUS’s Low Light Mode where 4 pixels are combined to become one pixel to take a brighter image.

Doing a little maths, we can still take a 12MP picture with the 4-in-1 Light Fusion – still very high in terms of megapixel count.

Then there is something called Link Turbo, which seems to be a method to combine both WiFi and 4G LTE to work together. From the logos I can see in the image, Honor’s Link Turbo works with a few popular apps and games as well – one of it being TikTok, I guess?

Of course, Honor touts the circular cutout as a replacement for the notorious notch as well. From the looks of it, the cutout can be disguised as a persistent notification – which I think works better than the notch that we have now. Though, it raises the question of certain buttons in games since that part of the screen can’t be used.

We do not have any further information, specifications, or price of the Honor View20 – but we do know that the Honor View20 will be launched at 22nd January 2019 at Paris, France. Stay tuned for more information.
