ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo is every video editor’s wet dream with ScreenPad Plus

During Computex 2018, I agree that we have actually seen some ridiculous groundbreaking creations from ASUS. One of them was the ZenBook Pro, and we reviewed the 15-inch version in detail here. Today, ASUS just announced that they have a new ZenBook Pro Duo – now with ScreenPad Plus.

At first glance, the entire ZenBook Pro Duo looks like an ROG Zephyrus laptop but instead of having a humongous vent above the offset keyboard, there’s a really long secondary screen instead. Like the Zephyrus series of laptops, the ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581) comes with a palm rest as well.

Now yes, it looks really bizarre. The ZenBook Pro Duo has a 15.6-inch screen with 4K resolution with an OLED panel. This main screen is HDR certified and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, yet it has very slim bezels.

The second monitor, aptly named the ScreenPad Plus, is a 14-inch full-width display with 32:9 and 4K resolution, and with touchscreen too.

It also has a new ScreenXpert software that is built-in that includes a wide selection of useful apps, tools and utilities that allow users to easily enjoy the efficiency benefits of ScreenPad Plus. The new ScreenPad Plus is now fully compatible with all Windows apps, although it still depends on how the buttons and layouts are laid out. The ZenBook Pro Duo also comes with a stylus in the box so that you can sign documents via the screen.

Of course, the title calls this a “video editor’s wet dream” and you need great hardware to do that. The new ZenBook Pro Duo comes with a 9th Gen Intel Core processor with up to 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, and up to 1TB NVMe SSD.

There is also another more affordable version that comes in a 14-inch ultraportable variant. The ZenBook Duo (UX481) features a 1080p main display and the ScreenPad Plus is also 1080p in resolution. The specs are tuned down to the Intel Core i7 with GeForce MX250 GPU.

To raise it up another notch, the ZenBook Pro Duo also comes with the ASUS NumberPad that converts the trackpad into a number pad. There’s also Amazon Alexa voice support, with a dedicated light bar at the front of the laptop that illuminates to indicate it’s listening.

Both the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581) and ZenBook Duo (UX481) will be available soon. We will update this page when we have more information about the new ZenBook Duo.
