It’s been more than a year since the release of the previous ZenFone. Many of us have been speculating the upcoming ASUS ZenFone 4 over the past weeks – and the wait is over. Here is what we know about the ASUS ZenFone 4 thus far.
Over the past few weeks, ASUS has been posting pictures a few rather intriguing images… showing off beautifully taken pictures with two rings overlaid on top. These two rings clearly represent camera lenses.
A while ago, we did an editorial regarding the differences between dual-camera smartphones and we specifically highlighted the two differences – stereoscopic dual-camera systems and hybrid lens dual-camera systems.
I was wondering about one thing – are these two rings trying to tell me that the upcoming ASUS ZenFone 4 has a stereoscopic dual-camera system or hybrid lens dual-camera system? Because out of the all the 4 images, 3 of them placed the rings side by side whereas there’s only one image that overlaps the ring.
Then comes the leaks. The ASUS ZenFone 4 was leaked extensively recently, showing off a few of its specs in pictures taken. From what I’ve seen, it seems like the ASUS ZenFone 4 is more focused towards photography.
The source site that has all these leaks is actually written in Italian, but through some rough translations, here’s what I managed to pick up:
- It is unsure if the picture is showing the ASUS ZenFone 4 or ZenFone 4 Pro
- Will have Snapdragon 835 chipset and 6GB RAM; 1Gbps modem
- Dual-camera lens with 2x lossless optical zoom (that means it’s using hybrid lens dual-camera system!)
- Front physical home button with fingerprint sensor
- Unsure about the screen – might be an AMOLED quad-HD 5.7-inch display
That’s all that the leaker managed to discover. All the other crucial information like battery size are unable to be confirmed just yet. However, we do know that the ZenFone 4 will obviously be using FinFET technology for improved efficiency and performance.

This morning, however, ASUS finally confirmed the one person and the word “ZenFone 4” series of teaser images. Surely this has to be the new ambassador, right?
And yes – we’re right! It’s Gong Yoo – the actor in many hit South Korean shows and movies, including Train to Busan.
Here, we get to confirm a few things. Gong Yoo is the new ambassador – yes, but this is also the first time we’ve ever seen any official images of the ASUS ZenFone 4.
By comparison with the leaks, it seems like the camera module is a little more separated on the leaked images compared to what ASUS has posted. ?
Whichever the case may be, we also got to know the launch date of the ASUS ZenFone 4. It’s happening on 17th August.
That’s all the detail we have now – and we’ll have to wait until the time arrives before we have any further details to share.
