We’ve been hearing the rumor of a brand new Nokia coming soon to the market – and that day has arrived. This is the Nokia 8 – the first generation of high-end flagship smartphone since Nokia’s return. And this time, they’ve brought back ZEISS optics too.
We did a full live stream of the entire event – so check it out right here.
Here’s the thing with the Nokia 8 – it’s priced very competitively at just RM2,299, but its specs are among the highest end that you can find right now on the market. In a way, Nokia’s return will shake up the market quite a bit.
Though, the Malaysian market will get this specific model only, as of now:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset
- Adreno 540 graphics
- 5.3-inch 1440p (2560×1440 pixel) IPS LCD display
- 4GB RAM LPPDDR4X
- 64GB storage
- Rear-camera
- 13MP (color+OIS) + 13MP (mono) f/2.0 lens with PDAF, IR range finder
- Selfie camera
- 13MP f/2.0 with PDAF
- IP54 splashproof, milled out of a block of 6000 series aluminium
- 3,090mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
Here’s what I can say about the Nokia 8 – it’s sexy. It has the geometry of Nokia Lumia 1020 era, but due to its material difference, the feel of it is totally different. The whole Nokia 8 weighs in at just 160g, by the way.
There are a few other highlights in terms of features when it comes to the Nokia 8 too – like the Bothie feature. This is where Nokia 8’s camera touts its strength, as it has a 13MP sensor and similar lenses for all the 3 cameras.
With that said, Nokia 8 is also the first ever smartphone to take videos using both front and back camera at once – and you can even go on Facebook Live with it – which was what we did.
Thanks for the hot air balloon ride, by the way 😉
Also, Nokia 8 has this feature dubbed as Nokia OZO Audio. As the Nokia 8 has a total of 3 microphones, combined with “exclusive acoustic algorithms”, it can capture immersive 360° spatial surround audio.
The Nokia 8 will come in a total of 4 different colors – Steel, Tempered Blue, Polished Blue and Polished Copper. They will all be priced at the same, unbelievable price of RM2,299 – and they’re all available today, except for Polished Copper which will come sometime later in limited quantities.
So tell us – are you excited for the return of Nokia? It seems like this comeback of theirs will shake things up quite a bit. Let us know down in the comment section below!
