In the year of 2017, there are two trends that appeared out of nowhere for smartphones – dual-camera smartphones and Samsung’s elongated screen with high screen-to-body ratio. We’ve seen the former taking a lot more attention in the market. The brand new Vivo V7+ took the latter route and is equipped with a 2:1 aspect ratio display instead.
By the way, please don’t call it 18:9. It’s 2:1. Please.
Anyway, let’s go through a quick spec rundown of the brand new Vivo V7+.
- 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with 1440×720 resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset with octa-core processor at 1.8GHz
- 4GB RAM
- 64GB storage
- Cameras
- 16MP rear-facing camera
- 24MP selfie camera
- 3225mAh battery
Alright, that’s pretty much the gist of the Vivo V7+. Let’s break it down a little, shall we?
Firstly, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. I’m actually impressed that Vivo is using a brand new chipset from Qualcomm that is fabricated using FinFET technology. That means the 3225mAh battery can last you through a day without breaking much of a sweat.

With a total of 4GB RAM, the Vivo V7+ can guarantee some degree of multitasking smoothness – but might be limited due to the chipset’s processor performance.
However, that’s obviously not the main highlight of the Vivo V7+. The selfie camera is the main highlight. Boasting a 24MP camera and Face Beauty 7.0, the brand new Vivo V7+ promises clearer selfies and “naturally beautiful shots”, even in dimly-lit environments.
Other than that, the Vivo V7+ also has something called Face Beauty for Video Calls. It’s something similar to ASUS’s ZenFone Live with their real-time beautification mode. What it does is simple – apply real-time beautification to your video calls in real time. Not only that – the Vivo V7+ also has Selfie Softlight kicking in. As for now, it supports WhatsApp, Line, Facebook Messenger, Zalo, Viber, and BBM.
More points worth highlighting about the Vivo V7+ is the Hi-Fi Music with AK4376A audio chip and App Clone, where you can have two of the same app running side by side. As of now, the App Clone feature is available for WhatsApp, Line, BBM, WeChat, Zalo, and Viber.
The Vivo V7+ is available in the market already, and it’s priced at RM1,499. Comes in two colors – Crown Gold and Matte Black.
