Over the course of the last 24 hours or so, a lot has happened regarding Gamer Zone, DXRacer, and a particular someone with the name Vince Lim. There is this big DXRacer and Gamer Zone debacle The story here is quite convoluted, so let’s understand it part by part.

The accusation

We start off with the one who started all of this. Her name is Emily Kong, and she accused Gamer Zone for essentially giving false promise to her. For those who follow the eSports scene in detail, the name Emily Kong might ring a bell – that’s because she’s Mushi’s girlfriend.

Here’s the summary of this part of the story:

  • Emily Kong orders a DXRacer chair on Saturday, was told it’ll be shipped out on Monday.
  • On Sunday night, Emily receives a message saying that the model she wanted is out of stock. Gamer Zone gave her two options – either take a different model, or wait for 2-3 weeks for new stock to arrive.
  • Emily wanted a refund, but was rejected.
  • Gamer Zone was rude to her.
  • Emily posted the whole story on Facebook and got viral.
  • Gamer Zone refunded.

A lot of you might think – that’s the end of the story, right? Apparently not. In Emily’s post, she even posted out the name of that person from Gamer Zone that was talking to her – and that name is Vince Lim.

But first, let’s dive deeper into Gamer Zone.

Gamer Zone’s website

They have a pretty simple website which you can take a look here. There is literally nothing to look at other than DXRacer products alone. I’m not really interested in that – so let’s head on to their subpage – Showroom.

Wait a minute – that’s Ultimate.Zone they’re showing. Even the address is pointing to their new location.

[alert type=”info” icon-size=”normal”]Unfortunately, they’ve removed the webpage already and it’s now only showing a 404 page.[/alert]

Hold on, I know Vince Lim. He’s one of the guys from Ultimate.Zone. Let’s inquire him instead.

Clearing up the fog

I know Vince Lim. He’s a nice dude and I’m sure he wouldn’t act in such a way. He’s been in business under the name Ultimate.Zone for quite a few years already too.

I shot a message to Vince Lim on WhatsApp, and I got a “lol” at first. Then, an essay explaining the entire DXRacer and Gamer Zone debacle poured in. Here’s the summary:

  • The Vince Lim that Emily is referring to is not the Vince Lim that I know
  • Through further digging, we found out the two Vince Lim’s full name
    • Vince Lim Wee Ming (Gamer Zone)
    • Vince Lim Wee Fong (Ultimate.Zone)
  • Both Vince Lim know each other and are aware of what’s happening

I asked Vince Lim of Ultimate.Zone to get an idea of what’s going on and why Gamer Zone puts Ultimate.Zone as their showroom – and the answer I got is just mind-boggling.

Apparently, Gamer Zone sent out DXRacer chairs to Ultimate.Zone and asked them to assist in selling them, Hence they put Ultimate.Zone as their showroom.

Verdict & What Can We Learn?

At first, many things don’t add up. The coincidence in names is the one thing that I can’t wrap my head around – how can it be so similar? Upon looking further at the evidence that we have, the correlation between the two Vince Lim in question disappears.
