A while back, we did a feature on the animated short about Julian Yee – a Malaysian who is qualified for Pyeong Chang 2018 Winter Olympics for ice skating. The bizarre story here is that a Malaysian is able to qualify for ice skating. There’s no snow in Malaysia – but Julian Yee practiced in at shopping mall during his early career. Hence, Samsung made an animated short about it and called it Julian And His Magical Skates.
What’s interesting is that the entire short was made using the Samsung Galaxy Note8. We also reviewed it here, and we liked the S Pen a lot. By just using the Galaxy Note8 and the S Pen alone, the team got to work with their brainstorming, sketches, drafting animations and more. And just over a month later, the official video was brought to life.
The entire video was done in just 30 days with a total of 10 Galaxy Note8 at hand. Pretty crazy, if you ask me.
