It’s another year at MWC and Samsung has been teasing the Galaxy S9 and S9+ for the longest of time – and now we finally get all the details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
Of course, Samsung has teased us with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+’s camera. And Samsung did bring something new to the table – variable aperture. Well, sort of. It is able to swap between two fixed apertures, which is either f/1.5 or f/2.4. Still, it’s the first ever smartphone to bring such a feature. It’s really difficult to even make dual-aperture for such a small lens like a smartphone camera.
The new Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have a camera similar to the Galaxy Note8 too, where the main camera will use a prime lens and the second camera will use a telephoto lens. In other words, it’s using the hybrid dual-lens camera system.
However, there is some discrepancy between the S9 and S9+, and only the S9+ will have OIS for both cameras at the rear. Both phones will have the same selfie cameras, which is an 8MP f/1.7 camera with autofocus.
Powered by Samsung’s latest Exynos 9810, both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with an octa-core with 4x 2.7GHz + 4x 1.7GHz processor fabricated with 10nm technology. The Galaxy S9 will have a 5.8-inch screen with 4GB of RAM and 3,000mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S9+ will have a 6.3-inch screen with 6GB of RAM and 3,500mAh battery.
As for which version is coming to Malaysia, we have confirmed that the Galaxy S9 64GB will be priced at RM3,299, whereas the Galaxy S9+ will have a total of 3 variants: 64GB at RM3,799, 128GB at RM3,999, and 256GB at RM4,399. They’ll be available in the ever-classical black, blue, and the brand new purple.
