Even when HTC’s division that created the Google Pixel has been acquired by Google, HTC is still making smartphones on their own. After a few months since that news broke, HTC is now back in the fray with their latest smartphone – the Desire 12 and Desire 12+.

HTC is also including all of the latest smartphone trends into the Desire 12 and Desire 12+, as it has the large 18:9 aspect ratio screen. With that in mind, the Desire 12 is has a 5.5-inch screen and the Desire 12+ has a 6-inch screen. With the 18:9 screen, the Desire 12 is actually considered “compact”.

Both of these phones have phase detection autofocus camera, whereas the Desire 12+ has dual-cameras that allows refocusing after the picture is taken. It’s actually using the stereoscopic dual-camera system as we’ve described here.

HTC Sense also returns to the Desire 12 and Desire 12+, with the addition of Sense companion. It can now improve your quality of life with Smart Alarms and Battery Saver which reminds you to power up before you leave your home.

Presumably, it’ll be under RM1k by looking at the specs. For what we can judge here, these specs are meant for an entry-to-mid range phone. Presumably within the RM699 range, if the consumers are even generous enough to pay for that price.
