Whole we’re seeing the hype for foldable smart devices – again, Lenovo is actually the first one to make a public announcement and published a video showing off their foldable smartphone. This is the first time Lenovo is showing off this supposedly new bendable phone.
The video was posted on Lenovo’s official Weibo account (China’s Facebook).
The caption to this post says “可把我厉害坏了,叉会儿腰!咱们10月见” which according to Abacus News, it translates to “We are just so terribly good. It’s time to show off.”
While there are still no details regarding the bendable phone by Lenovo, we can analyze the video a little.
First off – we’re not sure if this is a product that we users can eventually buy or Lenovo is once again teasing us with a new technology that’ll never hit the market. From the video alone, it looks like an engineering sample device and the bottom chin is humongous.
One thing we can confirm is that the touch screen still works even though the entire phone is bent, but the amount of reflection from the bend is quite insane. Once the phone was bent, the interface splits into two parts – the bottom part shows some notifications and fitness status as indicated by number of steps walked.
Honestly speaking, I’m not sure what Lenovo is planning to show off by bending it around the middle. The screen doesn’t seem to be big at all – just long. The reason why we know it’s a phone is because near the end of the video, the Phone app was pressed. However, no interface was shown as the screen just turned black and the video ended.
Perhaps this is a phone-fitness band hybrid that you wear on your wrist. That explains the slim and slender profile of the overall shape of the device.
Still, it’s all rumors until Lenovo makes the official announcement.
