The vivid touchscreen display is capable of displaying essential ride data, detailed cycling maps, safety alerts and personalised training plans in one package. One can find bike-specific maps, turn-by-turn directions and multiple route options based on estimated travel time, elevation and bike type to compare

Additionally, its Up Ahead feature lets cyclists prioritise points of interest such as coffee shops, restrooms and gas stations, with updates on nearby stops along their route. Garmin has also included road hazard alerts that notify riders of reported potholes, road closures and even aggressive animals, with options to contribute updates to the community.

For those who prefer routes with fewer interruptions, Free Flow Routing can identify paths with fewer stops, intersections and slowdowns. Cyclists can also send locations or points of interest from Google Maps and Apple Maps on a compatible smartphone directly to the Edge Explore 3, which then generates a bike-specific route.

Fitness tracking is another part of the package, with Garmin introducing its new Garmin Cycling Coach training plans. These free personalised plans are designed to help beginners and experienced cyclists improve their fitness through guided workouts that adapt to performance, recovery and course demands when paired with a compatible Garmin smartwatch or heart rate monitor.

The Edge Explore 3 also supports Garmin Link, which automatically connects compatible Garmin smartwatches whenever the cycling computer is powered on, allowing riders to view wrist-based heart rate data at a glance. Meanwhile, eBike users can connect compatible Bosch smart systems and SHIMANO E-Bike systems to monitor battery status, assist levels and other riding information.

In terms of safety and connectivity, cyclists get access to LiveTrack location sharing, incident detection, real-time weather alerts and compatibility with Garmin Varia radars and smart lights. There’s also a commuter ride profile that tracks the carbon savings associated with daily cycling, both during and after a ride.

Battery life-wise, the Edge Explore 3 promises up to 16 hours under its most demanding usage conditions, extending to 48 hours when using battery saver mode.

Pricing and Availability

The Garmin Edge Explore 3 will be available in Malaysia from December 11 onwards at the price of RM1,799 across the official website, Shopee, Lazada, the AECO e-store, Garmin Brand Stores, and selected authorised retailers.
