All of a sudden, we have the brand new Mi 9 Lite that was launched out of nowhere. I didn’t even know the existence of this phone until now – and we’re going to talk a little about it here today.
In terms of specs, the Mi 9 Lite seems to be a mix between the recently-launched Redmi Note 8 and the Mi 9T.
- 6.39-inch AMOLED display with 1080p resolution
- Waterdrop notch
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset
- 6GB RAM
- Up to 128GB of internal storage
- Triple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 48MP f/1.79
- Ultrawide angle: 8MP f/2.2
- Depth sensor
- 32MP selfie camera
- 4,030mAh battery
- 18W charger included
By looking at the specs itself, it seems like the Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite is made to slot in at a much lower price range. And with such a low price, the Mi 9 Lite is indeed a “lite” version of its flagship variant since there are many things missing.
Surprisingly, despite being a “lite” smartphone, it also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, and also an IR blaster! The IR blaster is certainly something useful to have since I can control electronics around the house with my phone alone.
Also, the Mi 9 Lite does have a microSD card slot too. That is a very welcomed feature.
The Mi 9 Lite is also available in a few different colors – Pearl White, Aurora Blue, and Onyx Black. There is also another notification LED on its back cover, which is something that is quite rare in smartphones these days. The Mi 9 Lite also comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner, like many other smartphones in the market.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite will be available starting on 1st November 2019 with these configurations with these prices:
- 6GB RAM + 64GB storage @ RM1,199 (exclusively on Lazada and Shopee)
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage @ RM1,299 (all Authorized Mi Stores, Lazada, and Shopee)
