In a smart, connected world where we humans rely heavily on our electronic devices to hold all of our information – it’s dangerous to think that any sort of blunder in the device’s security will result in an information leakage.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), keeps a database of all the vulnerabilities and backdoors.

With the entry #20191129, it states that:

HUAWEI P30 smart phones with versions earlier than 10.0.0.166(C00E66R1P11) have an information leak vulnerability. An attacker could send specific command in the local area network (LAN) to exploit this vulnerability. Successful exploitation may cause information leak.

We’re unsure how much information can be exploited – but then again, having our data stolen isn’t a particularly good idea too.

We’re also unsure if this vulnerability only affects the Huawei P30 or the Huawei P30 Pro too. Huawei themselves also acknowledged this vulnerability by posting this security advisory, and seems to allude that only the P30 is affected.

However, there are no temporary fix discovered. So just make sure your Huawei P30 is updated to firmware version 10.0.0.166 (C00E66R1P11). Huawei states that they’ve already released software updates to remedy this vulnerability.
