realme Malaysia just announced that the realme 6 will be available in Malaysia through Lazada starting on the 27th March 2020 from 12am until 2am. The realme 6 will be available at a special promotional price of RM799. The usual price of that device is at RM999.
The new realme 6 does have an impressive list of specs as shown here:
- 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with 2400×1080 pixels in resolution
- 90Hz refresh rate
- Circular punch-hole display
- MediaTek Helio G90T
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD)
- 4,300mAh battery
- Quadruple rear-facing cameras
- Wide: 64MP f/1.8 with PDAF
- Ultra-wide: 8MP f/2.3
- Macro: 2MP f/2.4 fixed focus
- Depth sensor
- 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- Android 10 with realme UI 1.0
However, specs aside, we do suggest you wait for the full review first. We have already completed the review but is locked behind an embargo.
In terms of specs, the realme 6 does look impressive. This is the second time we’re encountering a smartphone that’s using the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset – which is a powerful chipset. The Redmi Note 8 Pro proved to us that MediaTek Helio G90T is indeed powerful.
For less than RM1,000, we’re getting a smartphone with 90Hz refresh rate – that’s great, right? Well, IPS LCD with high refresh rate has an inherent issue with its slow pixel response time. That causes an apparent motion blur that looks like smearing while scrolling through pages.
Moreover, boh the realme 6 and realme 6 Pro were accused of having “fake 90Hz”. While we do not have any solid proof about it yet, we’re staying vigilant about this allegation.
For RM999, I think that it is a bit too expensive for what it offers – especially since it only has 4GB of RAM. If realme Malaysia priced it at RM999 for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, then it would have been reasonable.
