WhatsApp has been the platform that facilitates communications of both casual and professional work and it is very common for content ranging from family photos to business queries stuffing up storage and with how scarce and little free cloud backups are offering, consequences could be detrimental if one lost their smartphone accidentally – or maybe just changing from a smartphone running Google Mobile Services to a brand new HONOR or Huawei smartphone that’s running Huawei Mobile Services.
UPDATE: We made a video version explaining how to transfer WhatsApp messages from phone to phone, and how to backup to Huawei Cloud.
After many months of users asking how we can easily backup and restore chat histories for phones using Huawei Mobile Services (which isn’t that bad, at least for us power users), we now have a way to do it – and it is through the Huawei Cloud service.
It backs up not only WhatsApp messages, but the cloud service also provides you the ability to backup your other media files such as photos, videos, and documents that you have sent and received fuss-free when you reinstall WhatsApp onto your Huawei device through the cloud service. All data can also be automatically synchronized across all Huawei devices under a single Huawei ID account.
To get it started, follow the steps below to enable the backup functionality:
- Go to setting > tap on your Huawei ID. (simply register to get your Huawei ID if you do not have)
- Select Cloud > Enable Cloud Backup
- Select Back-up Options and go to App Data.
- Enable WhatsApp and you have successfully restored your chats logs and files.
If you own a Huawei device and have not used the cloud service yet, head over to https://cloud.Huawei.com/ and register for an account so start backing up and throw away your worries.
However, the issue arises when you want to port between devices using GMS and HMS and vice versa.
On the other hand, they also teased the upcoming Nova 7 SE that strives to become the most affordable 5G smartphone in Malaysia. It will be officially unveiled on 19th June 2020 and Huawei claims that it is expected to start from RM1,000. I think it’ll be very near RM2k mark, so let’s see what’s in the bag during launch day.
