vivo has officially put its latest Research and Center (R&D) center to use during the grand opening last month.
Hosting a team size of 200 people, the center will research technologies related to the imaging system by methods of algorithm pre-research and debugging while gaining additional help from industry partners such as ZEISS to develop next-generation camera lens and identification software while local Xi’an facilities such as universities and enterprises will provide technical exchanges and nurture local talents to create more innovative solutions for consumer use.
Given that they have shown off prototypes and concept devices developed using said technology, it is good to see that they are committed to the initiative and try to shake up the smartphone market especially in the photographic section where brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and HUAWEI getting most of the spotlights.
Aside from all these lens and imaging techs, I suppose improving upon the user experience of their FunTouch OS wouldn’t be bad either. Hope they can put some attention on that side as well. In my opinion, it is usable at the very least but other competitors have started to take OS optimization and UI/UX designs seriously. If vivo decides to go big with this move, I suggest they do it in one go, big time.
