At the ASUS #WOWTHEWORLD online launch event, the brand has showcased the world’s 1st detachable laptop with an OLED screen – the ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED.
As a fully detachable laptop, ASUS wants you to use the screen to the fullest by any means necessary – for work, for entertainment, just anything that is based on visuals as the panel itself is a 16:9 OLED screen that is capable of delivering 1.07 billion colors with PANTONE validation in addition to the DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification that makes it so special and dedicated for watching movies and TV shows portraying the proper brightness, contrast, and colors. Accompanying the visuals is the audio department run by a quad-speaker Dolby Atmos setup which is leagues above your standard built-in speakers but of course still weaker than a dedicated home theatre system and that’s good enough for me.
After kicking the stand for some quick entertainment, snap the display back to the keyboard compartment and start taking some notes with the high-precision ASUS Pen 2.0 providing top tier 4096 pressure sensitivity and 266Hz sampling rate to make sure you jot down stuff quick and precise. Aside from just acting as a pen, you can also use it to do things like taking screenshots, moving to the next slide during presentations, and more. Running out of juice? Just power it through any USB-C cable and charger and you’re good to go.
Below are some of the quick specs that don’t need any further elaboration.

Unfortunately, even ASUS Malaysia has to wait for the official pricing info to come whilst waiting for the shipment to reach our country in the first place. So there’s the patience game for everyone who’s interested in it. But to be noted, whatever the price tag is, it includes the ASUS Pen 2.0, keyboard, and cover stand in one bundle.
However, if you can hold back your urge, there’s a couple of special Artist Edition models consisting of the Steven Harrington version and Philip Colbert version made in collaboration with the two guys named before them coming in around early next year. Featuring quirky art style to spice up the machine, all purchases will include a special cover stand, wallpaper, a special box, a sleeve, a keyboard, a hard cover case, and keyboard stickers while the Philip Colbert Artist Edition also comes with a pair of limited-edition shoelaces.
