Apple has revealed the new iPad mini that runs the A17 Pro processor that delivers the strongest performance to date for the mini tablet lineup.
This new chip provides a nice boost in raw computing prowess as Apple calls it a 30% and 25% improvement in CPU and GPU metrics respectively over the previous A15 Bionic model.
The NPU neural engine is also twice as fast and will be able to accelerate all of those AI functions and features in AP applications, gaming, and editing software much faster now.
For the screen, it is an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display so not much changes in terms of the overall experience but there’s one new thing for those who like to interact with their tablets with pen – Apple Pencil Pro support.
Yup, professionals and casuals alike can now unleash their potential to the fullest by utilizing the custom haptic engine for an intuitive response as well as other mindful designs like a rotating barrel for changing the orientation of the shaped pen and brush tools and more.
As for the camera, Apple gave it a 12MP+12MP combo where the rear one is capable of Smart HDR for vibrant photos on the fly and convenient functions like auto document scanning using AI while the front one supports Center Stage support for video calls.
Although not the “latest and greatest” WiFi 7 connectivity, it is running WiFi 6E so no problem with that, and for cellular models, 5G is here as expected. The USB-C is 10Gbps if you’re wondering (finally, no more sucky speeds).
You’ll also have iPadOS 18 powering the device out of the box and features things like enhanced handwritten note editing, audio transcription, and a redesigned Control Center for more personalization.
Apple Intelligence will also be following the announced schedule of arriving at a later date, unlocking “promised” features as time goes by.
Price and Availability
Available in colors of Blue, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey, the new iPad mini starts from RM2,199 for the WiFi model and RM2,899 for WiFi + cellular variant respectively.
Meanwhile, the Apple Pencil Pro can be yours at RM549 while the new Smart Folio goes for RM249 in colors of Charcoal Grey, Light Violet, Denim, and Sage.
