Sicked of Chinese smartphones running all sorts of ads, having shitty OS, or just general being paranoid of how they could “steal your data”? Welp, if you’re American, then better be ready to grab the Trump Mobile T1 Phone.
The device debuted with a gold-colored shell, and as expected, it is an Android phone, but the main point is that the Trump Organization touts that it is “100% Made in the great US and A” and they are being serious about addressing overseas manufacturing dependence.
Despite it being announced in June, actual sales would only begin sometime during August or September if everything goes a smooth, but there’s more – “The 47 Plan” postpaid program costing US$47.45 that packs unlimited talk + text + data (20GB being high speed), roadside assistance, telehealth benefits, and free international calls to over 100 countries, including U.S. military locations.
As for the specs, the full list has not been disclosed, but here’s what’s in the public space:
- 6.8-inch AMOLED Display
- 120Hz Refresh Rate
- 12GB RAM
- 256GB Storage
- Triple Rear Camera (50MP Main, 2MP Depth, 2MP Macro)
- 16MP Front Camera
- 5000mAh Battery
- 20W Wired
- 3.5mm Headphone Jack (actual game changer frfr)
Normally, this could just be a “badly priced” US$499 smartphone if it is being released by a well-known brand in the space. But this is more or less a “politically backed and moved” device that speaks more of the “American spirit” rather than a proper commercial product with a good price-to-performance ratio.
Moreover, someone from 404 Media preordered the thing, failed to complete the transaction, yet the site still charged the writer, AND with the wrong amount.
So yeah, it sure does speak to the “level of commitment” that went into this little project by the President.
