Here is the Xiaomi Watch S4! It’s a 41mm watch that runs of Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0. It’s not exactly a smartwatch like something that runs on WearOS, but there are some other upsides.
It’s not a particularly complicated watch, so let’s talk about the Xiaomi Watch S4.
This watch is – as mentioned – 41mm in diameter. It looks very dainty on my hand and yeah, I do think that it is indeed very feminine in terms of both design and color.

The strap can be swapped out easily as it is using a pin mechanism and it is 18mm in width. It’s easy to find these straps online, actually.

The 41mm display is actually very bright yet has vivid color. The bezels are not exactly the thinnest and the frame of the watch also extends into the screen. One thing that I love is that the display is flat – but what I don’t like is how annoying the auto brightness can be.
There are two buttons at the right side. Tapping the bottom button goes into the quick settings menu or we can hold it to enter the power menu.

The top button can be pressed to enter the app list. That top button can also be rotated to scroll around too.

So, let’s talk about the software now. It’s… very weird. Swiping down reveals all the notifications. We can read the message better by tapping on it, but all emojis will not be displayed. There is also no way to reply to the messages.

Swiping to the left does… nothing, actually. That’s weird. What’s weirder is that if we swipe to the right side, it brings up the watchfaces that we saved on the watch instead. A really weird decision to make it this way.

To access all the tiles, we have to go down. If we go down further past the tiles, we finally reach the app list. In terms of features on the watch, I do want to highlight that the DND can only be changed on the watch itself.

And now, let’s move to the watch. The app is the same as what we had before. We can manage the watchfaces and there are a lot of them, though there is no customization for the watchface complications.

Notifications – this is where we select what app to send a notification to the watch and if the watch should light up or not, fitness and health is where we can enable constant monitoring for all of these health data, and the apps.

Just a quick mention here, I’m not sure how accurate the health data gathering is, but I think it works okay. It’s pretty basic as it detects my heart rate, my steps, my sleep quality, blood oxygen level, and also stress. That’s about it. We only have like 2 days of data because I unfortunately had to factory reset the watch as it was connected to the Xiaomi 15T Pro before this and I had to return the phone already.

Back to the features – surprisingly, we can add credit and debit cards to the watch to make payments with it, but for us here in Malaysia – there are no supported banks as of now. And here are many other features that I think is self-explanatory, so we’ll skip ahead to the system menu which is also nothing out of the ordinary here, and also the last page where we can update the firmware.

That’s about it about the software and features. The Xiaomi Watch S4’s battery can last for around 5 days with AOD turned on and all the health data gathering turned on as well. Practically, it uses around 20% a day.

To charge the watch, we have to use the proprietary charger. It magnetically attaches to the watch and the pogo pins connects to the watch. It’s basically wired charging. However, it’s a USB-A cable. Kinda disappointing since everything is moving to USB-C.

Should you buy the Xiaomi Watch S4? Well, I personally think this design, in particular, at 41mm is dainty and feminine-looking, so it’s not for me. However, it’s great for my friends who happen to be girls.
