One of the new things Samsung will be showcasing at the next Galaxy Unpacked keynote will be the next iteration of One UI version 8.5.
Believed it or not, they have redesigned Bixby to be more like an AI agent now, and while relying on Gemini for searches and Google-related services is neat, Samsung is expanding that scope to its homemade solution, letting users ask their Galaxy device what they want in normal language, and Bixby figures out the rest.
In practice, this means you no longer need to know what a specific setting is called or where it lives in the menu. If you say something like “I don’t want the screen to turn off while I’m still looking at it,” Bixby understands what you mean and switches on the relevant option automatically.
You can also ask why something is happening on your phone, and Bixby will look at your current settings and suggest fixes rather than throwing generic instructions at you.
From another perspective, you can also do it in a “questioning” way, such as asking why the phone screen stays lit inside pockets, then Bixby’s gonna answer with not only explanations, but also the actual toggle for you to solve the issue.
On top of device control, Bixby is now pulling in real-time information from the web. Instead of bouncing you out to a browser, it shows live search results directly inside Bixby’s interface, keeping everything in one flow. You can ask something like, “Find me hotels in Seoul with swimming pools for kids,” and Bixby will return up-to-date results without breaking the conversation.
As for availability, the updated Bixby is rolling out as part of One UI 8.5, starting with selected markets including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US, with wider expansion planned later.
