Taiwan is reinforcing its position in Southeast Asia’s semiconductor value chain with the launch of the “Taiwan Semiconductor Innovative Products Launch” at SEMICON Southeast Asia in Kuala Lumpur, an initiative led by the Precision Machinery Research & Development Center and the Taiwan Electronic Equipment Industry Association that signals a broader push to build a more integrated regional ecosystem.
Held at the Taiwan Pavilion from May 5 to May 7, the showcase brings together 15 Taiwanese companies focusing on semiconductor packaging and testing, automation equipment, and smart manufacturing, reflecting industry priorities as demand surges for AI, robotics, and data center applications.
The opening ceremony was officiated by James Chang, Director of the Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, alongside TEEIA Executive Director Robert Lin, while representatives from MATRADE and other Taiwanese trade bodies attended, highlighting the event’s dual role as both an industry platform and a strategic collaboration effort.
Chang emphasized the complementary strengths between Taiwan and Malaysia, noting Taiwan’s leadership in IC design and wafer fabrication alongside Malaysia’s established role in assembly, packaging, and testing, while also pointing to growing opportunities in advanced chips, sensors, and control systems as both markets look to scale across the region.
Lin added that Malaysia remains a key global semiconductor exporter with strong positioning in assembly and testing capacity, as TEEIA’s delegation aims to translate technological showcases into tangible partnerships, particularly in advanced packaging, digital transformation, and smart manufacturing solutions.
The Taiwan Pavilion features a mix of advanced packaging equipment, critical components, and integrated manufacturing systems, supported by product presentations that have drawn attention from buyers and media.
