Recently, we’ve been a big shift in power banks – all thanks to Xiaomi. Many customers are in the know now, and currently searching for power banks that have high quality battery cells in it, and also the output amperage.

Then comes PowerLogic TZLA (pronounced as Tesla) series of power banks. It’s a refreshing look on high quality, small capacity power banks, and certainly caught tonnes of attention.

Both power banks – the TZLA Slim 5000 and the TZLA Magnum 15000 comes with the same design language, but we’re going to focus on the left one right now – the TZLA Slim 5000.

The power banks come in a rather peculiar packaging, as it comes in a very low-profile grey colour box with a magnetic flap that has the word TZLA printed on it.

Open the flap and the power bank is presented right in front of you, and you’ll see two plastic stickers – one at the top, another at the bottom.

Then, open the flap on the opposite direction and you get to your power bank. Underneath the power bank is where you’ll find a USB cable, a nicely moulded silicon case made specifically for the TZLA Slim 5000, and a user manual.

It’s disappointing to see that PowerLogic included a USB charging cable only, so you cannot transfer data through it as it lacks those wires inside the cable itself. By doing so, the cable is definitely slimmer, but is also a little more fragile and you will need another cable if you want to transfer data from any device that uses micro USB.

I’ve been bringing the TZLA Slim 5000 out with me for many days now, replacing my Xiaomi 10,400mAh power bank. That means putting the power bank in my cargo pants’ pocket, and just walk around everywhere with it.

The first thing I realize is how thin and light this TZLA Slim 5000 is. Way thinner than the Xiaomi one, and definitely a lot lighter. Usually the Xiaomi power bank will knock on a lot of things – tables, chairs, or just people, since the weight makes the pocket swing a lot harsher.

Then comes the charging performance. It charges really well for phones that require low amperage, and definitely holds up to its name of 5000mAh capacity. I got to find out about this as many of my friends asked me if I could lend them my power bank, and whipping out the TZLA Slim 5000 actually had their jaws dropped when they saw how thin it is.

Output is rated at 5V, 1.5A, and by paper it definitely says that it charges faster than other cheapo power banks. To that, I say yes! It really does charge quicker

The input side however is a little OMG, as it only takes in 5V, 1.0A. With this said, it means that the TZLA Slim 5000 couldn’t support pass through charging.

Pass through charging is where you connect the power bank to your wall charger, then have another cable plugged into the power bank to your phone and charge both the devices at once. What a bummer as the TZLA Slim 5000 doesn’t support but the Xiaomi 10,400mAh does.

The silicon case has been proven to be very useful to protect the power bank from any hurtful knocks as the TZLA Slim 5000 is made out of plastic, and coated with some powderish thing to make it feel like a piece of anodized aluminium.

The TZLA Slim 5000 is available in 3 different colours – dark blue, copper, or silver. The one I got here is dark blue, and it looks almost deep navy blue too. After fitting it into the included silicon case however, it turned a little grey, and definitely showed a lot more white colour.

Here’s also a little size comparison on how tihn the TZLA Slim 5000 really is. It does live up to its name of being slim, as the Slim 5000 is less than half of the thickness of the Xiaomi 10,4000 mAh power bank.

The TZLA Slim 5000 is a good power bank – it’s slim, light, smaller than the OnePlus One, looks stylish, and definitely catches attention – not many accessories can do that. For the price of RM109, it’s really not a bad deal, considering that some other high demand, cheaper power bank is in scarce amount, being black marketed, and haven’t been selling them for nearly a month.

Would I recommend this power bank? Definitely.
