DJI Malaysia has launched the SDR Transmission 2, a new upgrade to its video transmission system built for professional film and video sets to handle the kind of chaos that comes with crowded productions, multiple devices, overlapping signals, and directors who need reliable monitoring no matter what’s happening around them.
One of the more practical upgrades here is the integrated transmitter-receiver design, as each unit can switch roles on the fly depending on what the set actually needs, so crews don’t have to plan out a fixed transmitter-to-receiver ratio ahead of time. The main unit is lightweight at around 136 grams, which keeps things manageable when mounted on handheld stabilizers. There’s also an optional expansion board adding SDI, HDMI, and USB-C ports for cinema camera compatibility, plus a rugged cage option for outdoor use like car mounts.
For bigger productions, a single transmitter can feed up to eight receivers at once, each supporting remote control, which means directors, DPs, camera operators, and focus pullers can all monitor or adjust settings independently. Scale that up further and the whole system supports up to five transmitters and 40 receivers running simultaneously, distributing multiple 4K feeds reliably even in genuinely complex on-set environments.
Frequency management got smarter too. The new Auto Channel 2.0 lets units automatically recognize each other and allocate frequency bands intelligently, cutting down on manual setup, while more accurate frequency scanning and conflict diagnostics help units hop channels as needed to avoid interference, even when several transmitter groups are working close together on the same set.
Switching between camera feeds is also a lot less painful now, ditching the old reboot-and-repair process in favor of a simple tap on either the receiver unit or the Ronin app. The system outputs to professional monitors via SDI, HDMI, or DP, and can connect to a phone or tablet over USB-C for mobile monitoring. The Ronin app also supports standard monitoring tools like LUT, focus peaking, waveform, and false color, plus PTP control for adjusting aperture, shutter speed, and ISO directly from the app on compatible cameras.
As for power options, there are standard NP-F batteries, USB-C PD charging, and direct power straight from compatible DJI gimbals like the RS 5, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, RS 3 Pro, Ronin 2, or Master Wheels, so there’s no need for a separate battery if you’re already using that gear.

In Malaysia, the DJI SDR Transmission 2 is priced at RM1,329, with a Combo package available for RM2,349.
