Epson’s new LifeStudio Grand Plus EH-LS970B has landed in Malaysia, and it is here to solve the classic big-screen dilemma of wanting a large display without giving up your living room to a giant TV or a projector mounted across the room.
Thanks to its ultra-short-throw design, this projector can sit just inches from the wall and still throw a picture anywhere from 80 to 150 inches, with a throw ratio of just 0.16, letting it produce a 120-inch image from roughly 17.3cm away. Powered by a 3LCD laser projection system, it can deliver up to 4,000 lumens of both color and white brightness, along with a contrast ratio over 5,000,000:1, so it should hold up reasonably well even in a bright living room rather than requiring total darkness. It outputs a full 4K image at 8.3 million pixels, giving movies, sports, and games plenty of detail and clarity.
Meanwhile, the new AI-powered TV chip analyzes content in real time and automatically tunes the image scene by scene, with AI Super Resolution sharpening fine details and AI Picture Quality adjusting settings based on what’s actually on screen. Additional processing features like Dynamic Colour Booster, Local Contrast, and De-contour Processing work together to keep colors, contrast, and gradients looking smooth and natural across different types of content.
For audio, the 20W 2.1-channel Sound by Bose provides strong bass and room-filling audio, with the Bluetooth Speaker Mode letting it double as a standalone audio system even when you’re not using the display. Built-in Google TV rounds out the software side, bundling streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube into one interface, with Google Cast and voice control adding extra ways to pull up content.
To make the setup process even easier, the Epson Setting Assistant app automatically corrects image distortion and alignment just from a photo taken on your phone, cutting down on manual adjustments. The laser light source is rated for up to 20,000 hours, which Epson says works out to more than 10 years of use at 5 hours a day, without needing any light-source maintenance during that time.
