Google’s new Google AI Educator Series (GES) has gone live recently in Malaysia at Bett Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur as a free, standards-aligned training programme for educators.

The programme is aimed at both K-12 educators and higher education faculty, with self-paced sessions lasting between 15 and 45 minutes. Rather than turning AI training into another lengthy course for teachers to squeeze into their schedules, GES is built around short, practical lessons that can be applied directly to everyday teaching.

That includes using AI to create lesson plans and supporting materials, draft communications for parents, and even use vibe coding to build interactive simulations and assignments.

Malaysia already has a sizeable base of educators experimenting with Google’s AI tools. According to Google, the country leads globally in Gemini Certified Educators, with more than 200,000 teachers certified. The Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) have also enabled Gemini for Education for millions of students and educators across K-12 schools and public universities.

One of the testimonies shared was from Cikgu Amirul Faisal bin Azman, an ICT teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan Titian Bintangor in Negeri Sembilan, as an example of what practical AI training can look like on the ground.

After focusing on classroom-ready applications rather than AI theory, Amirul was able to rethink parts of his daily teaching workflow and spend less time on lesson planning. More importantly, that experience helped encourage a broader culture of experimentation and innovation at the school.

Google is also bringing new learning features to its education tools, with a focus on helping students develop foundational skills and deeper reasoning.

Guided Learning is coming to Google Classroom in the coming months, allowing teachers to use their own class materials to create step-by-step learning guidance for students. Teachers will also be able to see progress and insights in real time, making it easier to spot areas where students may need additional support.

Read Along, Google’s digital reading tutor, is also now available to Google Workspace for Education users at no extra cost. The service is getting more than 60 native and translated Malay titles, along with interactive comprehension questions.

Reading assignments are also launching on the Read Along mobile app this month, giving students a way to practise reading independently at home using a smartphone. The AI reading companion provides real-time pronunciation support, while teachers can access fluency insights through Google Classroom.

For Malaysian teachers and students with a DELIMa account, access to Read Along is already available.

Taken together, the new training and learning tools reflect Google’s broader push to make AI part of everyday education without taking teachers out of the equation. The launch also supports Malaysia’s wider AI Nation 2030 ambitions, while building on Google’s ongoing work with MOE, MOHE and educators across the country.
