U Mobile’s Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) has deepened its collaboration with Cradle Fund to help Malaysian startups develop and validate 5G-Advanced and AI solutions for real business use.
The two sides bring different strengths. Cradle contributes its startup ecosystem, programs, and potential funding pathways, while U Mobile adds EIP’s technical capabilities, a 5G-A and AI sandbox environment, and its industry connections. Startups can use that to build solutions, check whether they work technically, and show potential applications to industry stakeholders while learning what businesses actually need. Access to specific sandbox capabilities and support depends on the engagement and technical requirements, and funding and commercial opportunities aren’t guaranteed.
Meanwhile, EIP links startups, enterprises, technology companies, academia, and ecosystem partners, and its EIP Hub offers a dedicated space for technical testing and demonstrations. U Mobile also points to its network credentials, with Ookla naming it Malaysia’s fastest 5G network, Opensignal naming it a joint winner for best mobile network for reliability, and the Malaysia Book of Records recognizing its 5G rollout as the fastest.
Recently, both parties have kicked off the Cradle Roadshow in Sarawak, followed by the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator Demo Day hosted at the EIP Hub on October 28. Then, U Mobile took part as the Strategic 5G and Sandbox Partner at Cradle LIVE! Summit 2026 was held on November 4 and 5.
Here, EIP showed off its innovation programs and 5G-A sandbox, and talked with startups, innovators, and industry players about building, testing, and demonstrating solutions. Those conversations also helped U Mobile spot potential participants for future EIP engagements.
U Mobile’s Chief Technology Officer, Woon Ooi Yuen, said Malaysia has no shortage of bold ideas and talented innovators, but startups need the right environment to test their solutions and see how they meet real business needs. Connecting more of them with EIP’s capabilities, technical expertise, and industry engagement should help them strengthen their solutions and show their potential to businesses.
Cradle’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke, said Cradle wants to build an ecosystem that lets Malaysian companies grow beyond domestic markets, and partnerships with industry players like U Mobile bridge startups to the wider business world, opening doors to collaboration, market access, and commercial growth. The goal, he said, is for more Malaysian startups to gain the scale and competitiveness to succeed regionally and globally.
