Looks like the future is near after all. As see in many movies where people could just scan objects and analyze the object and bring it in a virtual space. Now, you could do just that!
Matterform, a Canada-based company has developed the first cheap, portable 3D scanner; Photon. The device would allow even beginners to scan objects in high resolution. What’s more interesting is that they could transfer the scan data and print them with a 3D printer. Even cooler, it’s using real lasers to scan rather than using something like the Kinect technology.
The device folds up becoming a suitcase where you can casually bring it anywhere you like. What’s important is that the price is only USD 399( RM 1229.12 excluding tax) which is about the same price as your phone or a tablet.
The product is currently being kicked off on Indiegogo. Early backers can get their very own 3D scanner around July this year!
Photon will be available for sale in August.
