Ebooks have been with us since the days of Amazon Kindle and the books and readers are now sprawling up everywhere. We have Apple iBooks, Sony Reader, Google Books and so forth. There are also third party readers such as Amazon Kindle and Kobo eBooks.
I believe any ebook readers on Android would have heard of Aldiko. Personally I consider it my favourite ebook reader on Android too, perhaps even better or on par with Apple’s iBooks.
My biggest complaint about Aldiko is the fonts they offer. It comes with a default font, with several other free fonts for download and use, but I feel that all these fonts are not exactly my cup of tea and I’m sure that I’m not the only one.
So here I’m going to share with you how to install your own custom fonts on Aldiko ebook reader for your reading pleasure.
- Mount your phone
-
Navigate to /sd/Android/data/com.android.aldiko/files/fonts as shown in the diagram below.
- Drag and drop your TrueType font file into the font earlier navigated folder. In this case, I’m using Google’s Roboto font.
- Eject your phone
-
Change your font on Aldiko. Your fonts will show up as such
- Select the font you want and hit okay.
-
Enjoy!
To clear your doubts, here I have the Molengo font which is free from Aldiko and Google’s Roboto side by side as a comparison.
Enjoy your reading on Aldiko!
