We know clearly that AMD is here to stay for a long time when we saw that that latest next-generation PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One uses the AMD’s Jaguar processors. AMD did in fact go through a few years of much sadness ever since the start of Intel’s bribery that caused AMD’s problems.
Now however, AMD is getting back into the game and make the most amazing PC ever that we’ve seen so far – a “flat PC”. This device is meant to be a home theater PC reference design by AMD, which is expected to be a set-top box solution from AMD. Though calling it a set-top box might be a little misleading, as this small little PC actually packs a very heavy punch.
Engadget reports that AMD showed this flat PC running Windows 8.1 and also FIFA 14 smoothly at 1080p resolution with its AMD Mullins processor – AMD’s next-generation of ultra-low voltage processors – alongside with a 256GB SSD, a camera, built-in WiFi, and a few other capabilities. Remember, all these amazing things are done with only the “flat PC” shown by AMD, and the size of it is just like your palm.
Amazing engineering, isn’t it? Since this is a reference design, we’re expecting to see a whole lot more “flat PCs” that are of this size. Maybe this type of designs are more feasible to be a Steam Machine instead of those OEM ones that costs a ridiculously high amount of dollars too.
