I know most Android users usually transfer files via those messy USB cables. This is a problem for me and maybe to some other tablet users. As you may know that tablet won’t charge via the computer’s USB port (unless USB 3.0). This can be troublesome if you are low on battery or simply you just want to charge your tablet while transferring stuff. Plus, it’s a hassle to keep unplugging the USB cable just for file transfer then plugging it back to the charger.

USB cable is a great hassle, Bluetooth is slow and considerably short in range, and pairing is also very frustrating! Why not pair once, and forget about it forever? That’s what this guide is for.

I’ll guide you on how to transfer photos, music and other data without using the USB cable.

The method I use to transfer files wirelessly is via file transfer protocol (FTP). There are other methods such as HTTP but I find that FTP is the fastest and most convenient way to transfer files using a graphical menu (of course).

Recommended Softwares:

For Computer[WINDOWS] :

FileZilla FTP Client

For Android :
FTP Server

The way this works is that the FTP server will, obviously, act as a server. You can connect to your Android device via FileZilla on your PC.

After installing both softwares on your PC and on your Android device, we can now proceed with the connection.

First, you might want to change the server settings.

The user and password are the details you are going to use to connect to your device from the PC.

After setting up the server, all you need to do is tap on the Power symbol. The IP address and port number will be displayed on the screen. We will use this details later on when connecting.

Now here comes the most important part, initiating the connection and transferring files.

Just open up FileZilla that you’ve installed previously.

From here, it’s straight forward.
Just enter all the details that you see on the app.(1)

Click the Quick connect button (2) and you are now connected! Note that this will only work if both your Android and PC are connected to the same network.

The rest are pretty simple and straight forward. Just drag and drop those files and they will transfer. In my experience, transferring this way is much faster than using the normal MTP USB protocol.

All those setup needed to be done only once. Next time when connecting, just press the Power Symbol on the tablet and connect by inserting the details in FileZilla on your PC! It’s as simple as grabbing your USB cable and opening file explorer!
