As the world move towards wireless audio, the new question is “which true wireless earbuds are the best?” and unsurprisingly, Apple still takes the lead. But the gap between Apple and the other brands is huge.
Apple launched the original AirPods and axed the headphone jack, sending ripples to other brands to follow suit. That kickstarted the industry of true wireless earbuds and with Apple’s branding on it, we still refer to the AirPods as the “golden class” of true wireless earbuds.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Apple holds a total of 54.4% of the entire true wireless earbuds market.7 million units of the AirPods – putting them in the number 1 spot.
As for number 2, it’s Xiaomi. Technically, there’s no surprise since Xiaomi does make a lot of products and they have multiple different true wireless earbuds in the market at affordable prices, as we have talked about here. And that’s only for Malaysia alone. The Redmi AirDots (review) is still one of the best-selling budget true wireless earbuds.
Xiaomi shipped a total of 9.1 million units of true wireless earbuds, holding an 8.5% market share. We’re not sure if the data shown here is inclusive of other Xiaomi-related companies like the Haylou.
Number 3 on the list here is Samsung. It is reported that Samsung sold 7.4 million units of the Galaxy Buds (review) – and remember, that is the only true wireless earbuds that the company has. This earned Samsung 6.9% market share.
Without a doubt, there are lots of copycats too, as we have talked about here. Some companies are also blatantly copying Apple’s design – which we shall not name here because you can already see it with your own eyes.
This data just goes to show that Apple doesn’t need any sort of heavy marketing or noise around its products to sell extremely well. They still dominate the market by a wide margin.
