Alright, I was contemplating to do a separate post for these audio products or not. I originally posted this on our Facebook page and surprisingly, there were many questions and confusion regarding Xiaomi’s lineup of wireless audio products. So let’s go through them one by one here.
Xiaomi Malaysia brought in a total of 3 different wireless audio products – the Mi True Wireless Earphones, the Mi True Wireless Earbuds, and also the Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic.
Why buy from Xiaomi Malaysia?
Yeah, that’s a valid question. The price is indeed higher – but you get instant availability and local warranty. That means you can go out and get one Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic at your nearest Mi Store and test it out. If there are any issues, just ask the employees there.
I think the local warranty and instant availability justifies the higher price. With that said, the price isn’t that much higher anyway.
Mi True Wireless Earphones
By looking at the product alone, you’ll know that this is an earphone. It’s bigger in size and Xiaomi promises better audio quality, comfortable fit, and also touch controls of each earphone itself.
Compared to other wireless earphones like the Beyerdynamic Byron BT that we reviewed here, the Mi True Wireless Earphones is truly wireless. There are is no wire connecting both sides together. By opting for this design, it offers even more features – like single ear mode.
The Mi True Wireless Earphones is priced at RM329. It is definitely bass-focused – at least from our testing.
Xiaomi Malaysia is now officially selling the Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic (a.k.a. Redmi AirDots) for the price of RM99 only.
You might think the price is a little high – but honestly, it’s worth that extra cost since you get local warranty and instant availability. If there are any issues, just take it back and get your warranty.
Also, beware of fake ones. More information about it here.
Mi True Wireless Earbuds
Now, this is the other variant of the earbuds that Xiaomi has. From hereon, I’ll call this the non-Basic version. Based on what we found online, the non-Basic version has touch controls instead of buttons, and comes in white color. I’m not sure if there are any differences since we can’t find anything on it.
The battery size is the same, too. The Mi True Wireless Earbuds is priced at RM179.
