Apple announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in Malaysia, enabling secure, contactless payments from anywhere with a simple gesture.
Merchants can accept payments through a supporting iOS app on an iPhone 11 or later. At checkout, the process is simple: the customer holds their contactless card, Apple Watch, or digital wallet near the merchant’s iPhone for secure payment processing via NFC technology.
The service supports major payment networks in Malaysia, including American Express, JCB, Mastercard, MyDebit, UnionPay, and Visa. Apple emphasized that privacy is central to the system; all transactions are encrypted and processed using the Secure Element, meaning Apple does not store card numbers or transaction details.
Several payment platforms are launching the service immediately, including ADAPTIS, Fiuu, HitPay, Stripe, and Zoho. This capability can be integrated into existing iOS apps by payment developers, making it convenient for businesses across sectors like retail, food and beverage, and professional services. Tap to Pay on iPhone will also soon be available at Apple The Exchange TRX.
