Perhaps the simplest out of all, a set of new watch faces is slated to debut for the big “9” of watchOS that includes Gregorian calendar-inspired Lunar, Playtime co-created with artist Joi Fulton, classical style-driven Metropolitan, and the wholly remastered Astronomy featuring cloud data and star maps.

Additionally, modernization and enhancements are applied to the majority of existing watch faces such as Utility, Simple, and Activity Analog, along with background color editing for Modular, Modular Compact, and X-Large. Going hand in hand with Focus, watch face personalization is also part of it now by giving users all they need at the moment.

Being one of the most popular reasons to own an Apple Watch, the Workout app got an extensive overall upgrade as well. For starters, the in-session display now uses the Digital Crown to swap between Workout Views while Heart Rate Zones are now applicable to manual and automatic calculations for preferences. The customization game is taken further down the road with the addition of Custom Workouts for one’s most unique routine while dedicated triathletes can now train to their fullest via the new Multisport workout type that smartly switches between training states on the fly.

Runners can now gain access to more metrics thanks to the addition of Stride Length, Ground Contact Time, Vertical Oscillation, and more. Users can also pick to go against the best or last recorded time of their own in order to facilitate improvements.

Swimmers also get a new stroke type detection in the form of kickboard which is viewable in a SWOLF score metric that combines time and stroke count. Users don’t need to do anything to kick start this mode as it is automatic as well.
