When everyone was arguing to get a smartphone or tablet, Asus came up with a pretty good idea when someone said this during their idea-pitching brainstorm session :
Asus then celebrated the idea by making it a reality with the first ever PadFone. Now it’s time for the new PadFone Infinity!
Of course that’s entirely made up. I don’t know what happened that caused Asus to make the PadFone, but I’m glad. The PadFone Infinity (A80) has specs as stated below. Keep in mind that the A80 is the phone itself :
- Quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU
- 5-inch 1080p (1920×1080) resolution with Super IPS screen (441 ppi)
- 13MP rear-facing camera with Sony sensor, 8FPS burst mode, 2MP front-facing camera
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB storage
- 2400mAh non-removable battery
As for the station dock though, the specifications are :
- 10.1-inch 1080p (1920×1080) resolution with Super IPS screen (244 ppi)
- 1MP front-facing camera
- 5000mAh non-removable battery
- Micro-USB 2.0 port
Why does this device matter though? Well, surely it’s an integration of both – something that suits users who require a tablet and a smartphone with all the files and apps being exactly the same across both devices. One example is someone a graphic designer who needs to show the clients some drafts – it’ll be inconvenient to have a tablet specially for that and too small to show it on a phone, so this PadFone will be an instant solution!
Skipping ahead to the most important part of this hype is the availability and price. The Asus PadFone Infinity is available now across Malaysia, and the combined price of the 32GB version of the PadFone Infinity and the PadFone Infinity Station together costs RM 2,699 (RRP).
That means you get a 32GB version of the PadFone Infinity phone and a docking station together, both at a price of RM 2,699. Sweet deal indeed.
Asus did came a long way from its first ever PadFone in terms of design and also the connectivity between the phone and the dock, didn’t they?
