Looking at the price of the ZenFone Live (L1), you better not expect it to be a gaming device like the ZenFone Max Pro (M1) – and that’s because the ZenFone Live (L1) is supposed to be an entry-level smartphone.
ASUS highlights 3 main points about this phone – more screen, more energy, and more fun.
More screen here isn’t particularly special compared to other brands. It has a 5.5-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio in a traditional smartphone 5-inch screen body.
More Energy stands for having a 3,000mAh battery. While it doesn’t sound like much, ASUS touts that it can have a long battery life.
Last but not least, more fun as the ZenFone Live (L1) has Face Unlock and also the triple-slot tray like its cousins.
Let’s take a look at the specs first:
- 5.5-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440×720 resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 cihpset
- Rear camera: 13MP with PDAF
- Selfie camera: 5MP
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB storage
- 3,000mAh battery
- Triple-slot tray (2x nano SIM + 1x microSD)
Yes, the specs aren’t particularly impressive. However, the main highlight here is that it’s a cheap smartphone. It’s meant for those who just needs a smartphone to get through the day. Perhaps for the elderly?
That 3,000mAh isn’t going to last you long either. Let’s be honest – the Snapdragon 425 is fabricated with 28nm process and no, not even using FinFET. You can learn about why and how it matters here.
Then again – who is the ZenFone Live (L1) really for? For the elderly, actually. The most convenient way to communicate with the whole family at once nowadays is to use WhatsApp. Does your grandparents need a Galaxy S9? Maybe not – so get then a phone like this is good enough. And the ZenFone Live (L1) comes with a TPU case too.
The ASUS ZenFone Live (L1) is available either at the end of June or early July – and yes, the price is at RM399. You can get it in Midnight Black or Shimmer Gold colors.
With that said, I there is another contender in this price range – the Honor 7S. Worth considering too.
