Each time when someone asks me “what is the best laptop”, usually they’ll be a follow-up question that goes by “within this budget”. This question applies to tablets, laptops, and smartphones, but most of the time they are really unrealistic, and then cause disappointment as they have to fork out some more cash just to get a machine that does what they intend to do properly.

Thirdly, but definitely the most exciting one ever, is the new EeeBook X205. We’ve seen the Eee PC had been with us for a very long time, and it defind the netbook market for years. ASUS thinks it’s time to move on, and created the new EeeBook X205.

DSC_6116 copyThis new X205 laptop is an 11.6-inch laptop that weight less than 1kg, and yes I can lift this up with one hand without problems. Come to think of it, it’s heavier than my camera. ASUS boasts that it lasts for 12 hours on battery in a single charge.

That might be true as the X205 is using the new Intel Bay Trail-T quad-core Z3735 processor, with 2GB of RAM that goes along with a 1366×768 pixel screen. The secret behind the thinness is the storage. They’re using eMMC, or a sub-SSD in this equivalent, is soldered on board, so the EeeBook X205 can be as thin as possible.

Better yet, the X205 is available in 32GB version for RM699, and the 64GB version for RM799. It’s only available on early March, unfortunately.
